Plastic Flowers

Memorial Day is my favorite Holiday. I love the beautiful plastic flowers people put on graves to make themselves feel better about treating their dead loved ones like dirt when they were alive.
Every Tuesday after Memorial Day, my Mom and I go, after Memorial Day shopping. It's a mad house, but we love it. We show up at Wallyworld at 4AM to be the first ones to hit the sales. We stock up on all those lovely plastic floral arrangements. I have a gorgeous yellow rose arrangement above my headboard in my bedroom. I think it is really appropriate because it has a lovely orange banner emblazoned with REST IN PEACE across it.
I bought a whole cart full, so that I could give these awesome arrangements as gifts all year long. Sometimes I add a letter or two to the banners so that they fit the occasion. For instance, my cousin is getting married and I brought one of the most beautiful of the plastic Daisy arrangements for a gift to her shower. It originally had said, " You are Missed." I crossed out the "d" and added an "S". Get it, You are MISSES like MRS.? I know I'm pretty creative. She was so moved she couldn't even speak.

Can I place an order for one of those delightful "rest in peace" bouquets. I think my husband would find it very soothing in our room, given that he doesn't much care for my frog collection. I have a collection of 413 ceramic frogs in our bedroom. The furniture is shaped like logs, and the bed is the shape of a lily pad. There is also a soothing sound machine that plays 'ribbits' all night long. It's very romantic and really gets us in the mood.

I think the only thing missing is one of your plastic flower arrangments.
ONE THING THOUGH: Do you have it Green?!

Sincerely,

Hortencia;

Yes, I can get anything in Green. I use the Gravestone Topper style on my headboard, were you thinking that or a wall mounted one? I realized today, that I could possibly even "borrow" a few from the local Cemetary. Let's be honest, people drop those flowers off and don't show up again til next year so they'll never know. And the dearly departed won't care either. It seems a shame to waste such beauty on the dead.

What great ideas you have. I have never been "after Memorial Day" shopping, but I bet it's like, totally great. I bet you can get, like, the world's greatest accessories for your bedroom, or really for any room in the house. Actually...those flowers can also work in your hair. Like, you can wear them and stuff. I think that would be totally, like great. I am all about fashion because I think that totally says so much about you.

First let me say that I so appreciate your recommendations. I can't wait to try the Ramen Noddle Surprise. I so love anything with Ramen Noodles.
I found it so interesting that our hobbies are so similar. I wait a week after Memorial Day to be sure that no one is coming back to check on the flowers, then I take the silk ones that aren't too badly molded. I then take them to the local library and have them lamenated. Then it is up to your imagination the fun you can have. I've had some framed, some are placemats and coasters. My favorite is the one I made into a sunshade for my car, it attracts so much attention in the Dollar Tree parking lot. Let me know if you think of any other good uses for them.

I love that song, "You fill up my Senses"; brings tears to my eyes. Makes me think of my precious frog collection.
Anyway, just wanted to thank you for posting a picture of the plastic flowers. You really went out of your way to be accommodating and we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our green arrangement. What with the wafting aroma of plastic flowers above our heads, and the soothing sounds of "ribbits", it promises to be an enchanting evening.

Viola - Gracias for giving me some great ideas! (I've been called parrot before -- don't know why!) I'll be on the lookout for the flowers next year!!

Also, your recipes look muy bien! And your first movie recommendation is one of my favorites! Could we be soul-sisters?

Viola . . .

I saw you at the local watering hole the other night. Hmmmm, your rabbit suit was a little scary, but you DID look a lot better than usual. I've got a pic of you . . .

Has some tragedy happened to Viola? Maybe I should order some of those plastic flowers for her! Haven't heard from her in WAY too long!
